The quickest way to apply to the MLC is by downloading the following forms from the MLC website (www.englishclasses.com) and then faxing them to 734-663-9623: 1) The Michigan Language Center Application Form and I-20 Request Form and The Statement of Financial Responsibility To print the Application Form directly from the website, please click on APPLICATION FORM. 2) The University Housing Request Form and Contract: This is attached to the application form. Please complete this form whether you would like the MLC to arrange your housing or not. If you do not want to reserve housing, please check the box that says, “Do not reserve housing for me”. 3) Students need to pay a $100.00 non-refundable tuition deposit. The deposit may be paid by Master Card or Visa. To do this, please complete The MasterCard and Visa Charge Authorization Form. Click here. If you do not want to pay your tuition and/or housing deposits by Visa or Master Card, you may mail a check along with the necessary documents. Checks should be made out to the MLC in US dollars and payable through a US bank. Deposits may also be paid by travelers check or by bank transfer. Complete these three forms, sign them and then send them to the Michigan Language Center by fax, scanned email or mail along with one of the following: 4a) A bank statement showing that you have the funds to attend the Michigan Language Center full time and to support yourself while studying at the Michigan Language Center. (We estimate that the cost of tuition and the cost of living is $3,375.00 for each 6-week course that you attend the Michigan Language Center.) OR 4b) A letter of financial support from your sponsoring agency that states that it will pay the cost of tuition at the Michigan Language Center and your living costs while studying at the Michigan Language Center. HOUSING Students may arrange their own housing or the Michigan Language Center will arrange for them to stay at University Towers Student Apartments. Please see http://www.englishclasses.com/utdates.htm for information about housing costs and move-in and move-out dates. To reserve housing at University Towers, complete the form titled The University Housing Request Form and Contract (www.englishclasses.com/utapp.htm) and send it to us with a the first term's housing fee of $825.00 for a shared space or $1325.00 for a single space. HEALTH INSURANCE INFORMATION The cost of medical care in the United States is very expensive. Therefore, the MLC requires a student to do one of the following: 1. In the student’s own country, the student will need to purchase health insurance which covers medical costs in the United States. OR 2. Upon arrival in Ann Arbor, the student will need to purchase short-term health insurance. We recommend that a student purchase health insurance in the student’s own country if possible as it will cover the student while traveling and upon arrival in the United States.
