University Towers is a safe, clean student apartment building
located a short distance from the Michigan Language Center. Each apartment has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The following is a description
of the types of rooms available:
Single Bedroom (limited number available): A student who lives
in a single bedroom has his/her own bedroom. One or two students live in
the second bedroom.
Shared Bedroom: A student who lives in a shared bedroom lives
with another MLC student. One or two other MLC students live in the second
bedroom.
To reserve a space in University Towers, a non-refundable $200.00
housing deposit ($300.00 for a single room) should be sent to the MLC no
later than one month prior to the move-in date. The deposit is subtracted
from the rent.
*Additional Housing Related Charges
The utility charge is $40.00 per person per term for each 6-week
term except Summer II which is $55.00. Each 3-week term is $30.00. A 9-week
term is $70.00. The cleaning fee is $30.00 for each 3-week or 6-week
term and $50.00 for a 9-week term. Students may arrange for telephone
installation and service at their own expense.
Optional Bed and Bathroom Package: A student may purchase a Bed
and Bathroom Package from the MLC for $65.00. The Bed and Bathroom Package
includes the following: 1)Fitted bottom sheet; 2)Top sheet; 3)Blanket; 4)Pillow;
5)Pillow case; 6)Bath towel; 7)Hand towel. These items are sold as a package
only. It is not possible for the MLC to lend or sell part of a Bed and Bathroom
Package. If a student does not purchase a Bed and Bathroom Package, the
student should bring these items from his/her own country. Only a complete
Bed and Bathroom Package may be purchased from the MLC. A Bed and Bathroom
Package must be reserved in advance.
Refundable Key and Damage Deposit: When a student first moves
into University Towers, a $150.00 refundable deposit is collected from each
student to cover the cost of the keys and damage to the apartment. This
deposit is returned to the student within 30 days after the student leaves
the apartment if the keys are returned and if there is no damage to the
apartment.
