  3. Application Form

Step 1 of 5 - Step 1: Student Status

0%
  • The “Form I-20” is the “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status - For Academic and Language Students.” Students will take the Form I-20 to the U.S. Consulate in their home country in order to apply for the F-1 student visa. The U.S. Consulate will make the decision.
  • If you do not know if you need a Form I-20, please contact us to discuss your application.
  • If you are an I-20 student transferring from another school, please complete the MLC Transfer Student Application instead.
  • Before you continue with this application, please note that you will be asked to upload the following documents:
    • Copy of your passport
    • Copy of a bank statement or letter of financial guarantee, which states that the student has sufficient funds to study at MLC and live in the US. The statement should show a minimum of $4000 USD, + $500 for each dependent (if the student will bring dependents to the US). If the student is not the bank account holder, the bank account holder should complete the Affidavit of Financial Support and email it to info@englishclasses.com.
    • Credit card information to pay the $125.00 nonrefundable application fee by credit card
    • Copy of passports for dependent(s), if the student will bring dependents (spouse, children) to the U.S. Please note there is a $50.00 dependent fee for each dependent.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THESE DOCUMENTS READY BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THIS APPLICATION FORM.

Acceptable file formats for the document uploads are: .jpg, .png, .pdf, .doc, .docx
  • Please choose the Session you would like to start studying at MLC.

  • If you do not need a Form I-20 from MLC, you will skip to Step 6 of this application form.

  • I understand that the tuition at the Michigan Language Center is $1,575 for each five-week session. Living expenses are estimated to be approximately $2,425 for each five-week session. Therefore, an intensive student at the MLC should have at least $4,000 available to him or her for each five-week session of study to pay for tuition and living expenses, and $500 for each dependent I bring (if applicable). I agree to be responsible for these expenses. I also understand that the Michigan Language Center will notify the Immigration and Naturalization Service if a student arrives in the United States without adequate funds or if a student does not maintain his or her student status by studying full time.

  • I understand that the MLC will charge the $125.00 non-refundable application fee upon completion of the online application form.
  • I also understand that the MLC will charge a $50.00 Dependent fee per dependent to the card information I have provided. If I do not have any dependents, then the MLC will not charge a Dependent fee.
  • If you are NOT applying for an I-20, no fees are due at this time. You will pay tuition fees after you arrive at MLC and register for classes. Full payment is due by the first day of class. Please contact MLC if your study and travel plans change.
  • (example: friend's recommendation, Google search, Facebook, study abroad agency, academic advisor)
  • After you click "Submit", you will be taken to a Paypal page. On the Paypal page, you will pay for the Non-Refundable Application Fee using a credit card. THIS FEE IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO NEED A FORM I-20. IF YOU DO NOT NEED A FORM I-20, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY THIS FEE.

I like studying at MLC because it’s so helpful to improve my English. They have professional instructors who are very nice and patient. Recently I’ve planned to apply to universities. MLC helped me to process the applications; they helped me a lot.
