Intermediate Level Overview

Let’s go beyond the basics! In the Intermediate Level, students will:
  • Enhance their knowledge and build English communication skills beyond the beginner level
  • Specifically, students will:Study the form, meaning, and use of English grammar structures, including a variety of verb tenses
  • Broaden their vocabulary to include a wider variety of topics and situations
  • Enhance reading skills and listening comprehension
  • Practice speaking English communicatively 
  • Complete written exercises and special projects
  • Learn to write paragraphs with good organization and description
After completing the Intermediate Level, students will be able to:
  • Understand and use English vocabulary and grammar in a range of situations
  • Have conversations in English about typical topics
  • Read short passages and answer questions
  • Write coherent paragraphs about different topics

  • Study grammar basics to better understand the English language
  • Practice using grammar every day with classmates and teacher
  • Use grammar to write English
  • Topics: Verbs and their different uses, count and noncount nouns, sentence grammar
  • 6 hours per week – class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Develop skills for writing paragraphs
  • Practice writing and grammar skills
  • Write to express your opinion
  • Learn to use proper spelling and punctuation
  • Topics: Writing about everyday topics such as family, work and school, and travel
  • 4 hours per week – class meets Tuesday and Thursday
  • Talk about everyday and real-world topics
  • Learn and use new vocabulary
  • Improve pronunciation
  • Listen to short passages and answer comprehension questions
  • Participate in group activities and presentations
  • 4 hours per week – class meets Tuesday and Thursday
  • Read medium-length passages and answer comprehension questions
  • Learn and use new vocabulary
  • Practice reading skills such as skimming and scanning
  • Increase reading speed and comprehension
