Advanced Intermediate Level Overview

In the Advanced Intermediate Level, students will:
  • Deepen knowledge and enhance their English skills for more fluent communication
  • Study the form, meaning, and use of English grammar structures, and engage in communicative practice
  • Broaden their vocabulary to include a variety of real-world and academic topics
  • Enhance reading and listening skills using real-world and academic material
  • Practice speaking English with better fluency and pronunciation 
  • Complete written exercises and special projects
  • Learn to write coherent, well-organized essays
After completing the Advanced Intermediate Level, students will be able to:
  • Understand and use English vocabulary and grammar to express more detailed ideas
  • Engage in English conversation with improved fluency and pronunciation
  • Comprehend reading and listening material about a range of real-world and academic topics
  • Write complete, well-organized essays about different topics

  • 6 hours per week – class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Study more complex grammar structures and topics
  • Practice using grammar every day with classmates and teacher
  • Use grammar learned in class to write and speak English accurately
  • Focus on using grammar to construct complex sentences
  • Topics examples: Verb tenses, the passive voice, modals
  • 6 hours per week – class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Begin learning the basics of essay writing
  • Practice different essay styles, such as narration, argument, and cause and effect
  • Learn techniques for writing effective introductions, body paragraphs and conclusions
  • Work on sentence accuracy and variety
  • Topics: Academic content areas, current events, world culture
  • 4 hours per week – class meets Tuesday and Thursday
  • Discuss topics with partners and groups
  • Improve pronunciation
  • Learn about and use new vocabulary
  • Listen to conversations and academic lectures
  • Practice comprehension skills for listening
  • Summarize and learn note-taking skills
  • Prepare short speeches and presentations
