Low Beginning & Beginning Level Overview

Let’s start learning English! In the Low Beginning & Beginning Levels, students will:

Learn how to speak and understand basic English
Learn vocabulary for a range of everyday topics
Study and practice fundamental English grammar and pronunciation rules
Start to develop skills for reading and writing
Practice speaking English in class every day
Complete written exercises and coursework to improve English skills.

After completing the Low Beginning & Beginning Levels, students will be able to:

Understand and use basic English vocabulary
Ask and answer basic questions as part of everyday conversation
Read simple texts in English
Write complete sentences in English about a topic

For students with limited English background
Learn foundation rules for grammar, including verb tenses
Practice speaking every day with classmates and teacher
Ask and answer everyday questions
Use new vocabulary and grammar in speaking and listening

10 hours per week – class meets every day
For students with limited English background
Read simple texts and answer comprehension questions
Learn and use new vocabulary in reading and writing
Write sentences and paragraphs about everyday topics
Learn grammar, spelling and punctuation rules
