Ann Arbor is a global town populated with scholars and professionals from all around the world. Many of these scholars and professionals settle in Ann Arbor with their families. MLC works with children of these families to help them adjust to academic life in the US.
During the summer, middle and high school students are welcome to join MLC’s intensive English program. We offer grammar, writing, speaking/listening, and reading classes at all levels (Low Beginning through Advanced). MLC classes have allowed these students to focus on improving their English skills during the summer, so that they will be more prepared to succeed in their academic courses during the school year. Students who have studied in MLC classes have improved their WIDA test results and graduated out of English Learner (EL) services.
MLC also offers private lessons during the school year and summer. Many middle and high school students realize they need more assistance outside of their school, in order to help them understand and complete their schoolwork successfully. MLC instructors work with these students to improve skills that are critical for their academic success, such as reading comprehension, academic writing, vocabulary expansion, and speaking and listening. Private lessons can be offered for individuals, or for small groups of students who have similar language levels and learning needs.
