REGISTER FOR THIS FREE WEBINAR | JULY 29th at 9am EDT
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Even advanced English Language Learners can be surprised to learn that native speakers find them difficult to understand. Students study the key components of pronunciation such as consonant, vowel sounds and syllable stress and assume that it’s enough However, the overall rhythm of English, beyond individual words, is often overlooked. During this webinar, we will practice strategies of taking needed pauses, emphasizing key words, and using rising and falling intonation to indicate meaning and increase understandability. By using these strategies, you will leave the webinar with powerful tools to improve your next conversation or speech with a native speaker.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  • Identify and practice thought groups in American English speech and insert pauses with intonation
  • Understand and use basic American English speech rhythm to increase understandability
