Student Spotlight: Miho, inspired by cultural diversity

Student Life, Student Stories

Meet our student, Miho! She moved to Ann Arbor for her husband’s MBA at the University of Michigan, and she joined MLC as a full time student for 1 year. She has a professional background in the automobile industry for 10 years as a Project Coordinator, and is a mother of a 5 year old daughter!

Now Miho and her family are going back to Japan, and she states that MLC gave her a great opportunity to think about her future career plan. “I talked with some classmates at MLC who have professional backgrounds, and they inspired me a lot,” she says. “By talking with students who have specific professional skills, I thought that it is something I should acquire too.”

Now she has an interest in studying website design and coding, in combination with her past experiences. “It will be hard to juggle the two roles of being a mom and a professional worker, and I also want to seek my career plan to work with flexibility,” she says. It should be a big challenge for anyone to study as a full time student at MLC while having a little kid, but she seems to enjoy that challenge. ”Well, it’s been a good rehearsal for my future career to play these two roles simultaneously,” she smiles.

Ann Arbor has been a great fit for Miho, who loves to communicate with people of diverse cultures.“We live in a student dorm of the university, and it’s so much fun for me to talk with our international neighbors.” After immersing herself in the cultural diversity in both MLC and Ann Arbor, she is now hoping to use English for work after going back to her country.

Thanks for sharing your story, Miho! We wish you the best in your future endeavors!
